District Peace Committee is a symbol of Peace and Harmony

A meeting of the District Peace Committee was held at Gujranwala Gymkhana at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, 14th February 2026, in connection with the commencement of Ramadan and the Lenten season. The session was chaired by Naveed Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner, Gujranwala.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sardar Ghias Gul Khan, City Police Officer; Christian and Muslim religious scholars from different sects; and community representatives. Faisal Sultan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Gujranwala, warmly welcomed the participants.
The proceedings formally began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by HafizShahbaz Rasool, followed by a Naat presented by Mollana Akbar Naqshbandi.
Prominent Muslim scholars, including Saeed Saddique, Hafiz Jawad Qasmi, Prof. Saeed Kalarvi, and Mollana Kazam Tarabi, emphasized the importance of unity, harmony, and peace during the holy month of Ramadan. They assured full cooperation with the district administration and police to maintain law and order.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahzad Lawrence noted that the Christian community would begin the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday just before Ramadan. He stressed the importance of promoting interfaith dialogue, mutual acceptance, and tolerance to maintain religious harmony. He further stated that Gujranwala remains peaceful due to continuous liaison among members of the Peace Committee, and that religion-based issues are resolved amicably through coordination and understanding.

Mr. Lawrence appreciated the efforts of the district administration and police for providing satisfactory facilities and foolproof security to churches during Christmas and New Year 2026. He also highlighted the dedicated efforts of Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmad in beautifying and developing Gujranwala.
The meeting concluded in a pleasant and cordial atmosphere with a joint prayer for peace and harmony. Food was served to the participants at the end of the session.
