The efforts for Peace, religious harmony, and interfaith dialogue in Gujranwala
The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, headed by Provincial Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, appreciated the Peacemakers, members of the Peace Committee, who are prominent stakeholders in order to promote peace, religious harmony, and interfaith dialogue in Gujranwala.
Provincial Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, while addressing the gathering, said that maintaining a peaceful environment during Muharram-ul-Haram is the top priority of the Punjab government. The Punjab Government was committed to providing foolproof security and other arrangements during Muharram every year. The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, headed by Provincial Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, along with Provincial Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, and Additional IG Chaudhry Sultan, visited Gujranwala.

Mr. Naveed Haider Sherazi, Commissioner Gujranwala and Gujrat Division, Mr. Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, DIG Regional Police Officer, Gujranwala Range, Mr. Naveed Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala, Muhammad Ayyaz Saleem, DIG, City Police Officer in Gujranwala, attended this meeting.

The purpose of the visit was to review the security arrangements and measures regarding Muharram-ul-Haram. Members of the Punjab Assembly also participated in this meeting.
The provincial cabinet met with prominent scholars of different faiths and members of the Peace Committee. Mr. Shahzad Lawrence, Maulana Khalid Hassan Mujaddidi, Maulana Saeed Ahmed Kalravi, Maulana Kazim Turabi, Maulana Saeed Ahmed Siddiqui, and other religious leaders attended the meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, Gujranwala.

He appreciated the positive and productive role of the members of the Gujranwala Peace Committee, who are making their important contribution in the Muharram-ul-Haram. The exemplary role of scholars of all schools of thought and religions has been prominent in promoting peace, interfaith harmony, interfaith dialogue, interreligious and religious tolerance, and religious harmony in the community.

Provincial ministers, delegations consisting of scholars of interreligious sects and faiths, visit the divisions, meeting with Peacemakers, and stakeholders to ensure religious tolerance, brotherhood, Muslim-Christian cooperation, peace and order, interfaith unity, and interfaith harmony.
During the discussion in this important meeting, I highlighted all the initiatives taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz that she has taken for the public interest, and especially the welfare of minorities. These measures include minority cards for deserving Christian families, the inclusion of Christians in mass marriages for deserving families, and other measures.
Furthermore, I expressed my special gratitude to Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Haider Shirazi, Regional Police Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, and City Police Officer DIG Muhammad Ayaz Saleem, Muslim scholars, and members of the Peace Committee for promoting exemplary interfaith harmony in Gujranwala and peaceful resolution of Muslim- Christian conflicts.
On this occasion, prominent scholars of various faiths and members of the peace committee assured the provincial cabinet of their full support for the promotion of peace.
