Invitation from The Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs,

Like every year, I got the invitation from the Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Punjab (Gujranwala Zone), to participate in the Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Conference held on 2 nd September 2025 at Usmania Hotel, Gujranwala.

The program was organized by the Gujranwala Division, where eminent scholars of different schools of thought from the Gujranwala and Gujarat Divisions expressed their views. These views were the best expression of their religious beliefs. Their messages included messages of peace, love, and respect for religions. Mr. Shahid Hameed Virk, Zonal Head, Zonal Khateeb, and District Khateeb, among the organizers of the program, welcomed me from the bottom
of their hearts for my participation.

The speakers at the conference on “The Role of the State in the Positive Use of Social Media” highlighted that social media, when guided and regulated responsibly, can become a strong means of spreading truth, harmony, and education. They emphasized that the state has a vital responsibility to create policies that encourage constructive dialogue, promote awareness, and counter hate speech or false information. Referring to Seerat-un-Nabi (ﷺ), they noted how the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) always communicated with wisdom, patience, and truthfulness, teaching that words should bring people closer to peace rather than cause division. In the same way, they said the state must ensure that social media platforms reflect values of honesty, justice, and mutual respect, enabling citizens to use these platforms for education, interfaith harmony, and social development.

The speakers also discussed how the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) set an example of using communication as a tool for building communities, resolving conflicts, and guiding people towards moral values. They pointed out that the state, inspired by this model, should encourage the positive use of social media for spreading religious tolerance, promoting awareness of social responsibilities, and strengthening unity among people. By ensuring that social media content reflects ethical standards and counters extremism, the state can follow the Prophetic principle of promoting goodness and preventing harm. In this way, social media can become not only a platform for free expression but also a source of guidance, education, and peace in society.

On this occasion, the streets, mosques، and markets were transformed into dazzling spectacles of lights, colors, and decorations, as citizens from all walks of life expressed their love and devotion to the Prophet (PBUH). This holy occasion, which is celebrated on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),

Being a member of a multi-ethnic society, I have been witnessing the blessed month of Rabi-ul-Awwal since childhood. In this regard, memorial hills were built in the streets and neighborhoods in which various models were placed. With the passage of time, these models are now placed in central places.

In this regard, Gujranwala Division Director Munawar Hussain also wrote articles
that were published in Urdu- language newspapers. This message of peace reflected the fact that programs were
organized in Gujranwala with peace, unity, and religious fervor regarding the birth
anniversary of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), in which people participated with traditional religious fervor.

In the month of Rabi-ul- Awwal, regarding Eid Milad- un-Nabi (PBUH), a consultative meeting was also held with the members of the Peace Committee and the organizers of the processions under the chairmanship of Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Haider Shirazi regarding the arrangements, facilities and the law-and-order situation, in which Mr. Tayyab Hafeez Cheema Regional Police Officer, Mr. Ayyaz Saleem City Police Officer, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Faisal Sultan Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Mr. Rizwan Tariq SSP Operations, Mr. Shahid Nawaz SP Sadar Division, Mr. Shahid Rasheed SP City Division, and SP Mr. Imran Klaru SP Civil Lines Division and scholars of various sects and schools of thoughts also participated.

Weeks before the arrival of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, preparations began in every corner of Gujranwala with religious enthusiasm. Local committees, religious organizations, and traders’ associations actively participated in planning the celebrations. Houses, streets, and business centers were adorned with strings of green, white, and golden lights that sparkled like stars across the city. Decorative banners bearing Quranic verses, Naats, and messages of peace and love were displayed prominently on roads and intersections.

In the streets, young people enthusiastically formed groups to decorate the streets with flags, banners, and models. Special stalls were set up where Islamic literature, books on the Prophet’s biography, and decorative items were sold. Charitable activities were also a central part of the preparations, with stalls set up by philanthropists to distribute traditional snacks such as halwa puri, naan halwa, sweets, food, and free items to the needy.

On the day of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, large processions were taken out by various religious groups in Gujranwala. The processions started early in the morning and continued till late at night. Thousands of children, youth, and elders carried banners, flags, and placards. The participants recited Naats, Durood Sharif, and raised slogans of Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH), creating an atmosphere full of spiritual warmth and devotion.

The main processions concluded through the city’s main thoroughfares, including Markaz Mustafa to Shaheen Abad, Milad Chowk, Model Town, Sialkot Road, Shiranwala Bagh, and busy bazaars. The processions also served as a platform for religious scholars and leaders to deliver messages about the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), emphasizing peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.

One of the most impressive aspects of the celebration was the dazzling illumination of the streets of Gujranwala. From Clock Tower Chowk to Milad Chowk, College Road, Jamia Masjid Naqshbandia Model Town, Markaz Mustafa, Satellite Town, People’s Colony, in short, the entire city was illuminated with lights. Government buildings, mosques, and places were decorated with glowing green bulbs, lanterns, and banners with religious messages. The view of the city at night was truly spectacular, reflecting the devotion of the people.

The district administration and local authorities played a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of the celebrations. Under the supervision of police and law enforcement agencies, security arrangements were tightened across Gujranwala. Routes of processions were closely monitored, and traffic management plans were effectively implemented to avoid congestion. WASA, Rescue 1122, and medical teams remained on high alert to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies. The cooperation between citizens and authorities reflected the unity and discipline of the people in celebrating such a significant occasion.

It is noteworthy that, along with the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, many districts of Gujranwala and Gujrat Division were facing the worst flood situation due to climate change. On this occasion, the division and district administration of Gujranwala were helping the floo victims and were coping with the situation.

Beyond the grandeur of lights, processions, and decorations, the celebrations of Eid Milad Ul Nabi 2025 in Gujranwala carried a deeper message. The life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a beacon of guidance for humanity, teaching lessons of compassion, forgiveness, justice, and harmony. Religious leader reminded citizens to adopt these values in their daily lives and to work for unity and peace in society.

The celebrations also highlighted interfaith harmony, as many peace committees ensured that the festivities promoted mutual respect and understanding among different communities. The city witnessed not only religious devotion but also social solidarity, as people came together to serve food, share happiness, and spread messages of love.

The celebrations of Eid Milad Ul Nabi 2025 in Gujranwala were a glowing testimony to the city’s devotion and love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The beautifully decorated streets, well-organized processions, and gatherings filled with Naats and prayers turned Gujranwala into a city of light and faith. The spiritual enthusiasm and collective participation of the people made this year’s celebration memorable. More importantly, it reminded citizens that the true way of honoring the Prophet (PBUH) is by following his teachings of mercy, tolerance, and justice, ensuring that peace and harmony flourish in society.
