International Youth Day 2025

International Youth Day 2025

The main point of my talk was to remind the new generation that the youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow, and that their role is important not only for the welfare of the country but also in building a Christian nation. A nation progresses when its youth are educated, morally strong, and socially responsible.

In addition, I emphasized the role of the Catholic faith in shaping the character of young people. I convinced them that faith not only strengthens their inner resilience but also equips them with the values of honesty, peace, compassion, and respect for diversity. The young generation, through their creativity, energy, and positive vision, can remove obstacles to development and lead societies on the path to peace and progress.

Furthermore, the importance of interfaith dialogue is sorely needed in diverse societies like Gujranwala. Living in a multi- religious country requires that young people adopt tolerance, respect, and dialogue with followers of other faiths.

By becoming ambassadors of peace and understanding, Christian youth can work alongside their Muslim, Hindu and Sikh brothers and sisters to promote social harmony and discourage violence or extremism. This spirit of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence is essential for the future of
Pakistan. It needs to be embraced at all levels.

I also highlighted the importance of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the lives of Catholic youth. I encouraged the students to maintain a constant connection with Mother Mary through prayer, the Holy Rosary, and acts of faith, as this spiritual bond will leave a lifelong impact on their journey. The Blessed Mother has always been a source of strength, guidance, and intercession for us, and the appeal for mercy through her intercession can help us remain steadfast in faith as we face the challenges of modern life.

The program offered students a lecture-based presentation useful for career choices, helping them explore opportunities in education, health sciences, social work, technology, and community leadership. The session encouraged young people to set clear goals, pursue their dreams with dedication, and remain optimistic despite the obstacles they face. It was inspiring to see how enthusiastically the students participated, asked questions, and shared their ideas for the future.

International Youth Day was not just a formal gathering but a meaningful platform to inspire the younger generation. It connected faith to responsibility, spirituality to education, and unity to development. By combining Catholic values, professional guidance, and interfaith harmony, the event became a shining example of how the Church is preparing its young people to become responsible citizens and strong believers. The future of our nation and the Church lies in the capable hands of these young leaders.

On August 12, 2025, World Youth Day 2025 was celebrated with joy at St. Francis Xavier Parish. Young students, teachers, religious leaders, parishioners, and catechists participated. The program aimed to highlight the important role of youth in the development and growth of society.

The program was organized under the supervision of the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Yousef Masih. I was invited to attend and address the youth on this special occasion. The event reflects the spirit of unity, faith, and preparation of the young generation of Christians and Catholics for challenges in both their spiritual journey and professional careers.

St. Francis Xavier Parish is trying to meet the spiritual and educational needs of the youth of Gujranwala. For many years, the parish priest, Reverend Father Yousuf Yaqoob, has been conducting short courses in computers, languages , and online business for students who have passed their academic exams, during the period until the results are out. The aim is to promote the idea of interest in business instead of jobs among Christian students.
