Independence Day in Pakistan is celebrated every year on August 14. This day reflects the spirit of love, unity, and patriotism. People remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by their ancestors for freedom, whose struggle and vision made it possible for future generations to have a separate homeland. Pakistani flags are hoisted on government and non-government buildings, as well as in public places, filling the atmosphere with enthusiasm and excitement. Citizens gather to participate in flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, peace rallies, and prayers for the country’s progress.
On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, a colorful and vibrant program was organized in Gujranwala with the spirit of unity, peace, and patriotism to promote communication and harmony among diverse communities.
Mr. Rizwan Tariq, Senior Superintendent of Police, Operations, Gujranwala, Mr. Faisal Sultan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Mr. Mehmood Ul Hassan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Civil Lines Division, Mr. Faisal Sultan, Incharge District Security Officer, Gujranwala, Mr. Imtiaz Shaheen, Station House Officer, Civil Lines from the district administration and police officers, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ahmed, Parish Priest, Saint Mark’s Catholic Parish, Gujranwala, representatives of Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, Young Christian Lawyers, Mr. Imran Azhar, Christian Technical Training Center, Pastor of Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, number of Muslim and Christian religious leaders, socio- political representatives, members of civil society joined hands to mark this historic day with zeal and respect.


The program began with the reading of verses from the Holy Bible, followed by the singing of Psalms, followed by prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan, and then continued with engaging activities that created an environment filled with enthusiasm and patriotism. National songs sung by young children and local artists echoed the message of love for the homeland, while powerful speeches from community leaders highlighted the sacrifices of our forefathers who laid down their lives for the creation of Pakistan.
The national anthem, sung collectively by participants, became the heart of the program, inspiring a renewed spirit of commitment to the nation. More importantly, the aim of this program went beyond celebration—it served as a platform to encourage interfaith dialogue, promote religious tolerance, and strengthen the concept of a united nation in Gujranwala, where people of all faiths stand together under the green and white flag. Leaders emphasized that the true meaning of independence lies in living together in peace, respecting each other’s beliefs, and working collectively for the progress of Pakistan. The active participation of both Muslim and Christian leaders, along with the cooperation of district administration and law enforcement, reflected a strong message that Gujranwala is a city of brotherhood and harmony. Such programs not only honor the legacy of our
martyrs and freedom fighters but also inspire the younger generation to follow the values of unity, faith, and discipline in building a prosperous future for the nation.


The outcome of the Independence Day celebrations with the Muslim and Christian communities in Gujranwala was highly encouraging, as it promoted interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, and national unity. The joint participation of religious leaders, socio- political figures, district administration, and police officers sent a strong message of peaceful coexistence and brotherhood. Through national songs, speeches, and the national anthem, participants honored the sacrifices of forefathers and revived the true spirit of patriotism and unity. The program strengthened the concept of one nation beyond religious boundaries, inspiring both communities to work together for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan.
