Welcome Mr. Shaheryar Habib Newly appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters, Gujranwala

An introductory and welcome meeting was held with Mr. Shaheryar Habib, newly appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters), Gujranwala, at his office in the DC Office, Gujranwala, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere with the aim of strengthening mutual understanding, coordination, and cooperation on matters of public and community interest.
During the meeting, Mr. Shahzad Lawrence welcomed Mr. Shaheryar Habib on his new assignment and congratulated him on his appointment. Mr. Lawrence presented him with a bunch of flowers. He expressed his best wishes for his successful tenure and highlighted the importance of effective coordination between the district administration and members of civil society and the District Peace Committee.
Mr. Shahzad Lawrence particularly highlighted several important issues concerning the Christian and other minority communities, including matters related to the construction of churches, issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for churches, religious discrimination at work places and the need for transparent and effective administrative coordination in resolving community-related concerns.
The discussion also focused on the promotion of interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and interfaith dialogue in Gujranwala. Mr. Lawrence emphasized that regular interaction and meaningful dialogue among religious leaders and communities can play an important role in building trust, addressing misunderstandings, and strengthening brotherhood and social cohesion.
Special attention was given to the role of members of the District Peace Committee, constituted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Gujranwala. Mr. Lawrence emphasized that the committee can serve as an effective platform for consultation, early identification of sensitive issues, community engagement, and promoting peace and harmony at the grassroots level.
Mr. Shaheryar Habib appreciated the discussion and the efforts being made for interfaith harmony, peaceful coexistence, and constructive engagement among different communities. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and develop a shared understanding of the importance of continued cooperation between the district administration, religious communities, peace committee members, and civil society.
